Dawn Yamane Hewett
Ms. Dawn Yamane Hewett is a Partner in the Washington, DC and Tokyo offices of Quinn Emanuel. She draws on decades of experience in international affairs and as a former Deputy General Counsel of the U.S. Department of Commerce to represent clients in international commercial and investor-state arbitration in a wide range of industries around the world.
As a Japanese, Spanish, and Portuguese speaker, she maintains a particular focus on Asia and Latin America. Ms. Hewett serves on the Court of Arbitration for the Abu Dhabi International Arbitration Centre (arbitrateAD) and the Executive Committee of the Foundation for International Arbitration Advocacy (FIAA) and clerked on the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit.
A graduate of Yale Law School, Princeton University’s School of Public and International Affairs, Trinity College Dublin, and the University of Washington and Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators, Ms. Hewett guest lectures on international arbitration at universities around the world.
Julia E. Sullivan, JD, LLM, FCIArb
Ms. Julia E. Sullivan is an American attorney, an English solicitor, and an international arbitrator specializing in energy, infrastructure, and finance. She has served as an independent arbitrator in over 120 cases, including roles as Tribunal Chair, Tribunal Member, Emergency Arbitrator, and Sole Arbitrator in both London and the U.S.
Ms. Sullivan previously chaired the Energy Regulation, Markets, and Enforcement practice at Akin Gump Strauss Hauer & Feld, LLP, where she also served as a member of the Steering Committee of the Global Energy & Transactions practice.
Ms. Sullivan is a fellow at the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators and a Senior Lawyer at the Center for International Legal Studies. She has taught college and graduate-level courses in the United States and Europe on international arbitration, international energy policy, and project finance.
