Moderator:

Eric Cassidy, FCIArb, is a top litigator and international arbitration lawyer based in Houston, he is highly regarded, in particular for his work in complex oil & gas and energy cases. Mr. Cassidy is an experienced commercial litigation and international arbitration lawyer. He is recognized by Thomson Reuters as a litigator in the top 5% of business trial lawyers in Houston. Mr. Cassidy frequently represents clients in the energy, oil and gas, and tech sectors, as well as corporations and high-net-worth individuals, in complex commercial disputes, including energy litigation, business litigation, international arbitration, construction, fraud, and white-collar defense.

Mr. Cassidy is a Fellow with the Chartered Institute for Arbitration and was selected to be an arbitrator by the American Arbitration Association, International Center for Dispute Resolution.

René De Liux Campos Garcia, FCIArb, is an experienced independent arbitrator with over a decade of experience. He has held the title of Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators in London since 2009 and currently serves as the Vice Chair of the Mexican chapter of CIArb. His arbitration experience includes serving as both an arbitrator and party counsel in various procedures, including Ad Hoc cases, the International Chamber of Commerce (ICC), the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS), and the National Chamber of Commerce of Mexico City (Canaco). He is also the managing partner of Deliux Abogados in Mexico City.

He has a strong educational background, having earned a bachelor’s degree in law with special honors from Centro Universitario México, División Estudios Superiores (CUMDES). Additionally, he holds a master’s degree in international Trade Law from the University of Technology Sydney (UTS) in Australia, and a postgraduate degree in Commercial Law from the Escuela Libre de Derecho in Mexico City.

Javier Jiménez Gutiérrez holds a law degree from the Facultad de Derecho of UNAM. He holds a Master’s Degree in Law from Harvard University and a Master’s Degree in Latin American Studies from Oxford University. He is a partner of the international law firm Curtis, Mallet-Prevost, Colt & Mosle, where he has been practicing law for more than 30 years, specializing in international business transactions, especially in the practices of infrastructure development; oil, gas and electricity; mergers and acquisitions; and international arbitration. Mr. Jiménez Gutiérrez has been a professor of International Arbitration at CIDE and a professor of Comparative Law at Universidad Panamericana.

Mr. Jiménez is the author of several legal articles that have been published in specialized journals in Mexico, the United States and Europe and regularly lectures at some of the most prestigious universities and institutions in Mexico and the world.

Julieta Ovalle Piedra, FCIArb, is a partner at Bufete Ovalle Favela, S.C., in Mexico City.  She has acted as arbitrator and counsel in domestic and international institutional and ad hoc arbitrations. Julieta has been ranked by Chambers Latin America and Global Guide, Who’s Who Legal Mexico, and Leaders League.  She was included in the first issue of “The Most Influential Female Lawyers of Mexico” of Foro Jurídico magazine and in the ranking “Power List: Most Active Female Arbitrators in 2023” published by Jus Connect.

She received her law degree with honors from the Universidad Nacional Autónoma de Mexico (UNAM), and her LL.M. from the Université de Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne. She participated in the ICC Advanced Arbitration Academy for Latin America. Julieta teaches Arbitration at the Postgraduate Studies Division of the UNAM Faculty of Law.
