Ava Borrasso is an independent arbitrator and dispute resolution lawyer. She is a panelist of multiple arbitral institutions and acts as emergency, sole, chair and panel arbitrator. She has been involved in a wide variety of international and commercial arbitration disputes including by way of example: international trade and commerce, agency, distribution and franchise agreements; and financial services.
She is a Chartered Arbitrator and Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators headquartered in London and founded in 1915. Just 3% of CIArb’s global membership have attained Chartered Arbitrator status. She is a frequent speaker and author on international dispute and arbitration topics and recently returned from a visiting professorship at University of Debrecen, Hungary in May 2024 where she addressed International Commercial Arbitration: Legal Framework & Practical Usage. She co-authored with co-panelist Katherine Smith Dedrick, Crypto Disputes: The Next Wave of Financial Services Arbitration? Chartered Institute of Arbitrators, Evolver (Mar 5, 2024). Josh represents clients in high-stakes international disputes. He has extensive experience in litigation and arbitration proceedings around the world. He has represented clients across a broad range of industries, including energy, natural resources, cryptocurrency, and financial services. He also advises companies on national security law, public international law, and transnational litigation in U.S. courts. Josh shares his insights on the most important crypto disputes on his podcast, the CryptoCounsel.
Josh teaches international arbitration as an Adjunct Professor at the University of Virginia School of Law. He is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators and a FINRA arbitrator. Prior to joining Wiley, Josh practiced international arbitration at Covington & Burling and Three Crowns. He also served in the Office of the Legal Adviser at the U.S. Department of State.

Katherine is an experienced arbitrator, commercial litigator, and the co-founder of an international disaster and insurance consulting company based in the US and Asia Pacific (sold in 2016). She has handled hundreds of complex commercial matters in the US and other countries (both common and civil law). Her experience includes domestic and international commercial contracts, business disputes, insurance coverage (all lines), reinsurance, construction, cyber issues, and bad faith. Katherine is an arbitrator with AAA, FINRA, the Singapore International Arbitration Centre, and the Vancouver International Institute of Arbitrators. She is the immediate past Chair of The Chartered Institute of Arbitrators.
In addition to her law degree, Katherine earned an MBA from The University of Chicago Booth School of Business studying in the U.S., Spain, and Singapore. Currently the Managing Member of KSD Law LLC, Katherine was an equity partner at a large US law firm where she served on its management committee and as chair of numerous other committees. She is also an independent trustee for an asset management company. Katherine spent considerable time living and working in the Asia Pacific managing large commercial and insurance disputes following disasters.
